  • Fallen Warriors Ceremony

On 6 December 2017, Central High School’s Blue Devil Battalion held a ceremony in Kahler auditorium to honor fallen warriors. Cadets LTC Samuel Reynolds and Major Rebecca VanVooren spoke to honor and remember the names of Davenport High School and Davenport Central High School alumni who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Guests included  Davenport Community School District Superintendent, U.S. Army Colonel (Retired) Arthur Tate; the Garrison Commander at the Rock Island Arsenal, Colonel Kenneth J. Tauke; the Assistant Director of the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery, Mr. Christopher P. Hickey; and the Principal of Davenport Central High School, Mr. Jon Flynn. The Blue Devil Battalion was very honored to have all of these guests present at this special event. During this event, Cadet LTC Samuel Reynolds spoke “Being a student  at Davenport Central means being a part of a grateful student body; as we do not forget those who have lost their lives defending our great country. The patriotism and great pride we have for our country ensure we will never forget the Fallen Warriors who have walked these very halls.” Thank you to all who volunteered their time to organize this special event, and thank you to all who have made such monumental sacrifices for the sake of our nation.
