Education and Counseling Groups
Hopefully, you are aware that DCSD has partnered with Family Resources, Inc. to provide virtual support groups for students. Due to the option for students to return to 100% in-person learning, the time and what groups offered was revisited. Beginning Wednesday, March 3rd, there were be two different virtual groups available to all high school students. These groups will always occur on Wednesdays until the end of the school year. with the exception of Spring Break (3/15-3/19). For students who attend school 100% in-person, groups will occur from 3:00 to 4:00 PM. For students who attend school 100% online, group will occur from 1:00-2:00 PM. Ideally, students who attend school 100% in-person will attend the 3:00 PM group and those students that are 100% remote learning will attend group during the 1-2:00 PM time, however, that is not a hard and fast rule/expectation. Virtual groups will be condensed to include the following topics:
- anxiety/depression,
- anger/conflict resolution
- grief/loss/trauma
- bullying
These groups will provide students with the opportunity to learn new skills and behaviors through discussion of ideas, feelings, behaviors, attitudes, and opinions in a safe setting. All of the groups are being held via Google Meets, and links for these groups will be listed in each CHS grade level Google classroom on Monday, March 1st. Google links can also be obtained by emailing or seeing your school counselor or school social worker, Judy Wurdinger (wurdingerj@davenportschools.org)
