COMMENTS What a great night!
Five first-place medals, two school records, one meet record, 17 individual
season-bests and PRs, two relay season-bests, and our first Jesse Day trophy
since 1988! This meet is always a treat in front of our home crowd, and we sure
gave the fans something to get excited about! The only downside to the evening
was that it ended too early! It wouldve been nice to score about 20 more
points in the cancelled events, and it wouldve been really sweet to take a victory lap with the trophy! In what was
essentially an early MAC meet, we were slightly ahead of Clinton, and
comfortably in front of everyone else. Bad news is, though, that our cover is
blown. Now the rest of the MAC sees what we have, and will probably adjust
their lineups to take advantage of their strengths and our weaknesses. The
three teams to watch most closely are PV, Clinton, and probably Burlington. I
think the MAC race will come down to those four teams, with Bettendorf,
Davenport North, and Muscatine very close behind. Dont get too comfortable at
the top! We still have lots of hard training to do, and three more weeks to
prepare. Each of you needs to remain focused and consistent in everything
you dotraining, eating, sleeping, studying
.
Be ready for your best performances in the three, four, or five meets
that remain! Shot
