COACH'S COMMENTS: This was a great way to start off our season, with17
season-bests and 2 lifetime-bests! Even though we entered as many different
people as we could, and werent trying to load up any one event in order to
score a lot of points, we still finished ahead of every MAC opponent and
wouldve been 5th if not for the PV and TJ. Some teams have been
training much harder than we have, while others (like us) are taking a more
deliberate approach. Our performances were based solely on conditioning, with
very little technical training to back it up. This is especially important in
field events, starts, hurdles, and relay exchanges. The ability to consistently
perform a highly technical maneuver will come in time, but we havent focused
on that so far this season. For those of you in field events, sprint relays, or
hurdles, be patient! For all of you, remember that the focus is always on being
competitive,
regardless of where you are in the seasons training. Track & field is
first and foremost about challenging yourself and your opponents; most of you
did that tonight, and we had our best-ever showing at this meet as a result!
