COACH’S COMMENTS

To say that we were PLEASED and PROUD and EXCITED would be a gross understatement! 26 season-bests, plus seven more that were within a fraction of a season-best, shows that ALL of you were ready to perform at the most important meet of the season! We haven’t had this many All-MAC first- and second-team medallists since before you were born. You all should congratulate yourselves and each other on a job well-done!

Of course, there were things we could have done better or that could have gone “our way.” A couple of shaky handoffs, a couple of injuries, and a couple of calls by the meet official that come out differently and we would be celebrating a MAC title! As it was, we have nothing to hang our heads about. If anyone had told us at the mid-point of the season that we would be six points away from the title, we probably wouldn’t have believed them. Now that we’ve done it, though, you should all be READY and CONFIDENT and set to prove that the meet wasn’t a fluke—because it wasn’t!

We have two (or three) more opportunities to achieve season-best or lifetime-best performances. Friday is the District meet at which we can qualify for State; then Monday is the MAC Frosh-Soph championship; then State is next weekend. You’ve been training hard all season for this. Now it’s time to be rested and focused and ready to get your fastest/farthest marks of the year!
