COACH’S COMMENTS

Our team placing in this meet is a little misleading. Six of the schools that finished ahead of us did so by using athletes who scored points at the Varsity meet last week, and/or qualified for the State meet later this week. Our team tonight was a “true” frosh-soph team, and we still beat some individuals and relays who competed at Varsity! If the Varsity and Frosh-Soph meets had been held simultaneously, we would have finished among the top four. More importantly, many of you who had not had a chance to compete in a couple of meets (since the Ladies Classic) took advantage of this opportunity and turned-in some season bests (22 in all)! It was exciting to see you compete hard and perform well at the biggest meet of the season. Your hard work throughout the season paid off when it counted the most!

The challenge for most of you next year will be to earn a spot on the Varsity squad at Conference. If you continue to work hard all season long, and if you work to become a better athlete during the off-season, and if you continue to support and encourage and celebrate with each other, you can plan to be competing in the Varsity meet in a year (or two, if you’re a freshman in one of our “loaded” events). In the meantime, you can be proud of how you ended this season!
