COACH’S COMMENTS

In the days before this meet, the coaches were discussing how well we might do and in how many events we might qualify for State. The number we came up with was 1^st or 2^nd overall; and 12 individuals or relays advancing to State with three more as “on the bubble.” Burlington had the meet we thought they would’ve had at Conference, and Bettendorf had their best meet of the season to narrowly defeat us. All 12 of the relays and individuals we hoped for made it to State! And the three “bubbles” missed qualifying by a combined 3 seconds! Each of you should be congratulated for keeping your focus and performing at your best in the most important meet of the season; all told, there were 19 individual or relay season bests! Whether you advanced to State or not, each of you competed hard and performed well. No one had an “off” day, in the opinion of the coaches and your teammates. As you have done all season long, you supported your teammates and cheered each other on. Other coaches and teams notice that, and have commented on how much like a true “team” we behave. For some of you the season ended at this meet, for others it will end next week, but for all of you the season has been one of steady improvement and impressive team performances!
