Hall of Honor Recipient
Ziffren, one of Americas noted attorneys,
grew up above his parents grocery store at 830 Warren St. in
Davenport. He taught at Northwestern University before joining
the U.S. attorney generals office to become one of the key
prosecutors when the Department of Internal Revenue won a conviction
of Al Capone on tax evasion charges.
In Los Angeles, Ziffren is a partner in a law firm
with 10 offices and 350 lawyers in the United States and abroad.
Many of his clients are movie or TV stars, athletes and motion picture
and TV studios. He was a chairman of the 1984 Summer Olympics
organizing committee, and is a director of the Amateur Athletic
Foundation. The Paul Ziffren Sports Resource Center, a Los
Angeles building, is named for him. In 1960, he was chairman of
the Democratic national convention.
Im proud be have been the first person
to receive a Gold D from old Davenport for scholastic
excellence, Ziffren said.
A few years ago, Ziffren received the Los Angeles
Mayors Human Relations trophy. He is a trustee of Brandeis
University and is on the board of directors of several major American
corporations. Ziffren resides in Los Angeles.
