Hall of Honor Recipient
Herman J. Schmidt has been recognized for extensive
corporate directorships and civic contributions. Mr. Schmidt was
graduated from the University of Iowa and the Harvard Law School,
Magna cum laude. He affiliated with the distinguished law firm of
Cravath, Swaine and Moore, New York City. In 1951 he joined the Mobil
Oil Corporation and became Vice-Chairman in charge of corporate public
affairs. His other directorships include H. J. Heinz Company, Ryder
System, Inc., Mapco Inc., HON Industries Inc., Kaiser Cement
Corporation, National Bank of American, MacMillan Inc. Metropolitan
Series Fund and others.
In 1965 Mr. Schmidt received the University of Iowa
Distinguished Service Award and is the Lifetime Honorary Director,
University of Iowa Foundation.
Mr. Schmidt served in World War II in the Ultra
Secret Intelligence Division. His civic interests include
Chairman, American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy, Council on
Foreign Relations and the Hoover Institute for War, Revolution and
Peace.

which reflects the brilliant career for which he is recognized.
