Oliver A. Hansen
Class of 1938
Inducted in 1992

    Oliver Hansen is a farming banker.  Raised in rural Scott County, Hansen received a degree in Animal Science from Iowa State University (1942).   Following service in WW II, he worked for, and ultimately became President and Chairman of the Board of the Liberty Trust and Savings Bank in Durant, Iowa.  He is also associated with two other banks in Iowa. Mr. Hansen is past president of the Iowa Bankers Association and has been a Board Member or Chairman of several American Bankers Association Committees.  Mr. Hansen has also served as President of the Iowa Independent Bankers Association and, in 1971-1973, completed an interim appointment as Iowa Superintendent of Banking.

    His farming interests have led to other activities.  In these, he has served as Secretary and President of the Eastern Iowa Angus Breeders Association, and has several honorary agricultural leadership awards including his appointment to I.S.U.’s coveted Agricultural Council “Hall of Fame.”  His community interests have involved him as Secretary and Member of the Durant School Board for 13 years, President of the Durant Chamber of Commerce and he has served as a Board Member of the Episcopal Corporation Iowa Diocese.

    Mr. Hansen has been a guest speaker for various banking and agricultural groups in the United States and Canada.
