Hall of Honor Recipient
A 1965 graduate of CHS, Roger Emeis earned a
Magna Cum Laude from the University of Iowa College of Business
at graduation in 1969. He managed the family business, Emeis
Automotive, from 1971 to 1986.In 1987 he attained a CPA designation
and in 1989 was named controller at Adel Wholesalers. Since 1991
he has served as treasurer and has been president of the company since
1993.
While distinguishing himself in the business word,
Roger has also exhibited exceptional commitment to his
community. He served as president of the Scott County Division
of the American Cancer Society from 1995-1997 and was a founding
organizer of the Frank S. Folwell Relay for Life, a race in support of
the Cancer Society. He models good citizenship and leadership
for children as a career mentor for junior and senior high students
and as a youth probation officer for troubled adolescents. His
work on development and endowment committees for many local projects
and boards, including Adler Theatre Restoration, Carver Hawkeye Arena,
Oakdale Cemetery, Handicapped Development Center, and Genesis Health
Systems Foundation, demonstrates his dedication to the social,
educational and cultural enrichment of his hometown and state.
His children described his as a gentleman who
is a gentle man. Leading by example which is
underscored with intelligence, and indisputable work ethic, and a
sense of fairness. In their words, he is a quiet
her who embodies the tranquil and resolute integrity
which makes him such a modest and effective role model.
