Hall of Honor Recipient

Lilah Mergy Bell
Class of 1935
Inducted in 1994-95

    Lilah M. Bell, named “Most Admired Woman” by the Quad-City Times in 1975, has lived a life of service and personal involvement.  A Registered Nurse with St. Luke’s Hospital, she was the founder and administrator of Scott County Homemakers Service.  She has served as a staff nurse for The Davenport Visiting Nurses Association and as a Reviewer National Homemaker Association.

    Among other community activities, Mrs. Bell has served on the boards of Meals on Wheels, Plus 60, Clarissa Cook Home, Pleasant Valley Farm Bureau, the Putnam Museum and was financial secretary for her church.  She has also volunteered and been active in Eastern Star, ARC, Scott County, and Salvation Army.

    Some of the other recognitions received by Mrs. Bell have been “Outstanding Iowan”. - Area on Aging, Scott County, 1978; the Diane Award, Epsilon Sigma Alpha International, 1980, for her exceptional service to Humanity; Who’s Who in American Nursing and Who’s Who in American Women.
