    Imagery & Dance Movement in Musical Theatre         Register here!
    Dates:  June 24 – 27, 2019       9:00 a.m. – 12 p.m.
    Ages: Entering 4th – 7th grade
    Capacity: 15 students

    Instructor: Bridget Jessen 
    Elements of DANCE – explored through interactive dance games, teacher instruction, choreography, and stage concepts. There will be a culminating performance on June 27 at 11:30 a.m.

    This workshop will be an all-inclusive puppetry learning experience. Everyone will make their own hand puppet, from a number of different materials, to create their own individual puppet character. Then you will learn puppetry performance basics and how to really make your puppet come to life with voice and movement. Some knowledge of basic hand sewing is preferred, but not a necessity.

    We will explore the world of puppets and puppetry over the centuries.  Everyone will create their own puppet creation using a number of materials.  No two puppets will be the same, and that’s the fun of it!!  Learn basic creation techniques, performance tricks and ways to create your very own character that will come to life via your new puppetry skills!

    Have you wanted to audition for a play at your school? Interested in getting in front of the camera but not sure how to get started? In this workshop, we will explore various audition techniques and how to prepare a full audition performance from start to finish. 5th grade students are encouraged to participate in preparation for Creative Arts Academy auditions. This course will culminate in a mock audition for local theatre professionals, artistic and casting directors. Parents are invited to attend.

    This course will focus on the principles of basic animation including rotoscoping. Students will have hands-on access to top of the line animation software and learn the latest techniques.

    Ages: Entering 6th – 10th Grade
    Capacity: 10 students
    Cost: $70/student
    The CAA is honored to partner with the River Music Experience and the incredibly talented Lojo Russo. Russo plays guitar, bass, and mandolin in a wide variety of genres including folk, funk, jazz, jam, Irish and indie. This class will explore, encourage and develop your “YOU”-nique songwriting voice. Instruction will include an overview of prevailing writing techniques followed by an in-depth look at idea advancement, song narrative, structure, and musical composition.

    Take your character from the page to a living and interesting performance. We will examine common acting styles and techniques while learning how to use the script as our guide to making strong acting choices. This course will culminate in a scene and monologue performance. Parents and families are invited to attend.

    Students will learn the basics of playwriting including taking a trip next door to the Figge Art Museum to collaborate as a group to create their own original script based on a work of art and through the use of improv. The final script will be submitted to the local Susan Glaspell Playwriting Festival hosted by the QC Theatre Workshop.

    Climb aboard the HogwARTs express as we work with an assortment of materials to create a variety of “Harry Potter” related projects! Students will design their own wands and paint a wizarding pet of their choice. Other projects will include dragon eggs, potions bottles, and much more! Creativity will be highly encouraged, as each “witch” or “wizard” is unique!

    Explore a different genre of music each day at the Kidstock Mini Jam Session. Want to put together a band and jam out with other students? This is your chance! This class provides a hands-on workshop environment discussing and playing American Roots music such as Blues, Rock and Roll, Country and more. No prior music experience necessary. Come rock out!
