    Fashion Shoot Workshop

     

    On Friday, January 11, the Creative Arts Academy hosted the Central High School Advanced Photography class for their first Fashion Shoot Workshop. CAA teacher Clint Balsar utilized authentic Project-Based Learning to fully immerse the students into the excitement (and hard work) of hosting a fashion shoot. This type of project is an endeavor as it requires a great deal of additional planning, time, and resources. Read more

    CAA 8th Grader Shines Bright in “The Nutcracker”

    Creative Arts Academy 8th Grader Oliver Klipsch made his ballet debut with Ballet Quad Cities this weekend. Klipsch played the young prince and Drosselmeyer’s nephew. Read the full Quad City Times preview. 

    Formerly a Communication and Media Arts student with the Academy, Klipsch fell in love with dance and made the change to a Dance Concentration. Read more

    Winter Break Schedule

    The Davenport Community School District will have a 2-hour early dismissal on Wednesday, December 19, 2018. The district’s Winter Break will begin Thursday, December 20, 2018 and continue through Wednesday, January 2, 2019.  Students will return to school on Thursday, January 3, 2019. Additional information on scheduled breaks for the Davenport Community Schools can be found on the 2018-2019 academic calendar on the district website at DCSD Academic Calendar.

    Utilizing industry-level tools and materials, Broadcast and Sound Fundamental students are engaged in a professional photo/broadcast studio as their classroom. Students produce both live and recorded broadcast airings; utilizing both video and audio media formats. Read more

    Through the Eyes of Youth

     
     
    The City of Davenport lent their support to the Creative Arts Academy by donating cameras to the Communication and Media Arts division. These cameras are used to teach students basic photography, allowing each and every student to have their own camera when participating in photo walks and students event attend CAA events as official photographers!     The Largest Advent Calendar in Iowa – designed by Creative Arts Students

     

     
    Did you know? Iowa’s largest advent calendar is designed by Creative Arts Academy students? The calendar is located in the windows of the German American Heritage Center & Museum in Downtown Davenport. The German American Heritage Center is located just at the base of the Centennial Bridge.
     
    A new window is revealed each day beginning December 1st.
