On Wednesday, November 14th CAA 7th grade students, along with the German American Heritage Center, held the opening reception for the new exhibit “Twas the Night Before Weihnachten: A German Christmas Story.”
The 7th grade students began work on this project in their Integrated Arts classes in August. This project took more than 15 days of class time and included five teams of students working together to complete the exhibit. The teams consisted of a Marketing group that created digital and paper ads, planned the opening reception and even created a commercial.
The Design Team designed the layout of the exhibit and planned and created the interactive and decorative elements. Two groups that worked very closely together were the Objects and Labels groups. These groups acquired the objects to be used within the exhibit and researched and created the labels and panels that would accompany each object. Finally, a new team for this was the Windows team. This group worked hard to create two storefront window displays. Each team consisted of around 11 students with one student leader.
The students put in an incredible amount of work to make the exhibit and the reception a success. Great job, 7th graders!
The exhibit is open until January 13th at the German American Heritage Center.
