  • CAA to Air on News

On Monday, April 18th, Fran Riley from KWQC came to the Creative Arts Academy to learn more about our school, speak with students, and learn more about some of the unique collaborations our students have been involved with.  Riley visited the CAA Visual Art division studio located at the Figge Art Museum while 6th grade students had their Visual Art Enrichment class.  He also spoke with three 7th grade girls from the 7th grade Visual Art Enrichment class who have been involved with the JIVA Project, funded by John Deere.   Girls from the CAA have become penpals and “art-pals” with girls in India, using art and the sharing of cultural differences to encourage these young girls in a poverty-stricken region of India to stay in school beyond the 8th grade.  Nate Clark and Mara Sovey from the John Deere Foundation, who have partnered with us in connecting our students with the JIVA project and funded numerous CAA visiting artists, joined us for Fran Riley’s visit and were excited to experience first-hand what our students are working on.

    Check out the segment tonight!
