Creating the Future
Where We’ve Come and – with your help – Where We’re Going!
It’s been an exciting time of growth at the Creative Arts Academy. In 2014, the first CAA group of 6th graders started their Creative Arts Academy journey. This year, these students will move into high school at Central and the CAA program moves and expands along with them. Both the students and the Academy have come a long way in these three years.
We’re different and we like it that way.
The CAA has a student-centered approach that helps students acquire a deeper knowledge through the active exploration of real-world challenges and problems. This project based learning method allows students to gain knowledge and skills as an individual and team contributor while working through a complex question, problem, or challenge.
Arts Integration, using the Kennedy Center model, pairs the student’s concentration in an arts based subject such as music, theatre or visual arts with core subjects such as language arts, science, math and physical education. Add in the use of interactive media and creative seminars and you have the perfect mix of courses that foster creative, innovative and entrepreneurial thinking.
