Davenport Community Schools Take Home Awards from Quad City Arts High School Art Exhibit

DCSD high school students took home 20 of the 45 awards presented at the opening reception at the Quad City Arts 42nd Annual High School Art Exhibition on April 4, 2019. High school art teachers are allowed to select their top five student works to submit for the exhibition. The artwork is framed/professionally displayed, and students can price their works for sale. Student exhibitors competed for cash awards, gift certificates for art supplies, and scholarships.

Students receiving awards from Central were: Emma Dominicus, Senior Scholarship $1500; Lois Blackman, QC Arts Staff Award; Emma Dominicus, Most Creative Concept;Branden Leon, Hilltop Village Campus Award; Isabelle Critten, Mississippi Valley Woodcarvers; Aleah Beecher, Excellence in Clay;  and Nicholas Zepeda, D Philms Excellence in Film; 

Laniyah Bond from Mid City High School received the Left Bank Art League Scholarship.

Students from North High School receiving awards included: Karlenia Hildebrandt, The Cutting Edge Award;Nicholas Nguyen, D Philms Excellence in Animation; Destiny Findley, The Natural World Award; Abbey Fisher, Jane Crouch Award for Artistic Merit; and Adam Jasper, Zimmerman Honda Innovation Award.

West High School award winners were: Vi Le, The Cutting Edge Award; Alexis Patterson, Juror’s Choice Excellence in Art; Breanna Thomas, Juror’s Choice Excellence in Art; Austin Leuenhagen, All Things Apple Award; Cameron White, Excellence in Photography Award; Christopher Gillespiem Deborah Doehler Excellence in Jewelry; and Aiden Rushing, Rock Island Art Guild-Photography.
