Davenport Community Schools students showcased their projects at the recent National History Day competition at St. Ambrose University. All did an excellent job representing their school, and several students received commendations. Lindsay Knight and Grace Tollefson, 9th graders at North High, received 3 superior scores (the highest score possible) from the judges for their visual exhibit, WWII and Palestine: The Triumph that Lead to Tragedy. Sudlow Intermediate 7th grader Gavin Frank won the Scott County Soil and Water Conservation Award of Excellence for Best History of Conversation Project with his historical paper, Kenneth M. Quinn: An Agricultural Genius. Lily Heller and Cora Wynsma, both Sudlow 8th graders, won the Arthur and Rachel Serianz Award for Excellence in the History of Science with their project, Rosalind Franklin and the Discovery of the Structure of DNA. Congratulations, students!
