The West High robotics program and German language program travelled to Germany last summer, reprising the Kaiserslautern youth exchange. The exchange was celebrated in a documentary of their experience by the Goethe Institut, who selected West High to be featured in their “Award of Excellence” program which focuses on “robotics and innovation” this year. Check out the documentary and enter the student competition at http://www.goethe.de/ins/us/saf/prj/stg/ger/awa/enindex.htm. Davenport Community Schools also partners with Rock Island High School in an exchange program between Germany and the Quad Cities. The four students pictured here gave a presentation on the exchange to West High School teachers on Wednesday, October 31. The girls shared information on German students and what they value, how they spend their time, and how they feel about education. The two boys pictured shared information on the Mercedes auto industry. West student Kyle Swanson went to Germany as an exchange student last summer.
