North High’s Cultural Diversity Club Visits National Museum of Mexican Art

On Friday, November 2nd, North High’s Cultural Diversity Club traveled to the National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago to view the Dia de los Muertos exhibit, where students learned a more in-depth history of the celebration. The exhibit showcased unique and personalized pieces that local Hispanic artists dedicated to their loved ones who have passed. A mural “La Lucha Sigue” was one particular ofrenda (altar) that really captured the students’ attention; it was created by the surviving parents of a student whose life was cut short due to the school shooting at Majory Stoneman. The trip was a great opportunity for students to experience a deeper connection and understanding of the Hispanic culture.
