West High Recognized at State Level for Public Art Projects

West's Andy Zinn and students accepting award

West High was recognized at the state level by the Iowa Association of Parks and Recreation for their work locally with the City of Davenport Parks and Recreation Department over the past several years in the design and fabrication of multiple public projects, including the Fejervary Park gateway, Vander Veer Park snowflake lighting, and Sunderbruch Park’s monumental flower sculpture. West High Welding Teacher Andy Zinn accepted the award along with several of the students at a recent awards ceremony hosted by the Iowa Association of Parks and Rec in Coralville. The group was nominated by Davenport Parks and Recreation Director, Scott Hock, who said of the participating students, “The pride they show in their work and the excitement they bring to the project is inspiring.” Thank you, students.
