McKinley 5th grade students partnered with local artists Pat Bereskin and Brad Bisby to create two large paintings this May. The students started by taking field trips to Isabel Bloom, to Pat Bereskin’s art gallery, and to Lindsay Park to create sketches of the East Village. Afterward, students worked with Bereskin and Bisby to paint the final, large canvases. These original paintings will be displayed in City Hall during the month of June, and then at local art galleries and libraries in Davenport. This project would not have been possible without the support and vision from teacher leader Karen Tallman, along with Girard Graphic Designs, a Great Minds Grant from the Davenport Schools Foundation, the Davenport Morning Optimist Club, and the John J. Quail Great River Community Foundation.
