On May 12th, Davenport’s Iowa Jobs for America’s Graduates (iJAG) held a day of volunteering with Living Lands and Waters, working on the I-80 Restoration Project, which is the vision of Living Lands and Waters founder and president, Chad Pregracke. With 28 total acres included, it is the Illinois Department of Transportation’s largest restoration project in history. The project works to engage hundreds of local volunteers over two years to restore this area back to native landscape, with the hope to eventually feature a very small heard of native buffalo, provide tourists the opportunity to enjoy the Mississippi River, and to leave a positive impression on the State of Illinois.
