Katie Sturmer represented North High at the 2017 World Food Prize Iowa Youth Institute held April 24th at Iowa State University. Katie was one of 314 Iowa high school students invited to attend this conference discussing challenges and exploring solutions to world food security issues. To apply, students had to submit a research paper exploring a global food security issue in a developing nation. At the institute, they presented their research to a roundtable discussion group. Katie’s research paper was on water scarcity and sanitation in Haiti.
