Sixth Graders Learn With Watershed Field Trip

Science in Progress vest

Davenport sixth graders toured some of Davenport’s green infrastructure as part of a day-long watershed field trip. The event was part of a collaborative effort by the district and Public Works to provide students with authentic hands-on learning experiences that support classroom instruction and promote stewardship of our natural resources and citizenship. Designed to engage students in learning about all aspects of the water cycle, including the impact of human activities, the activity taught about watersheds, water quality, storm water run-off, floods, potable and wastewater treatment, and ways to protect our water and other natural resources, incorporating technology, engineering, art, math, and language arts.
