West and Central Students Attend River Action Conference

River Action conference

Several West High and Central High students received the honor of being selected to attend River Action’s 9th Annual Upper Mississippi River Conference October 13th and 14th at the iWireless Center in Moline. To qualify, students wrote 250-word essays about why the Mississippi River is important to them. At the conference, the students worked with other attendees to strategize improvements to the river’s ecosystems, flood control and risk reduction, transportation, water supply, economy, recreation, and gulf hypoxia.
