Central Grad Wins Gold in World Rowing Championships

Emily Delleman, left, wins a gold medal On Sunday, August 28th, Central High graduate, Emily Delleman, along with Caroline Sharis, Pleasant Valley High School Junior, won gold in the Junior Women’s Double at the 2016 World Rowing Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands. They were the first U.S. junior crew to win a medal in the event. They completed the final on the 2,000-meter Willem-Alexanderbaan course with a personal best and two seconds ahead of Greece with a time of 7 minutes, 8.12 seconds. This was Emily’s third time in the Junior World Championships, finishing seventh in Hamburg, Germany, in 2014 and winning bronze in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2015. Emily will be attending classes and rowing for Stanford University this fall semester.  

Wood Teacher to Conduct Honor Choir

Mr. Andy Tadlock Andy Tadlock, Wood Intermediate Choir Director and Lead Teacher, has been selected to conduct one of four choirs at the 2016 Iowa Choral Director Association’s (ICDA) North Central District Honor Choir annual festival on November 7th at Northern Iowa Community College (NIACC) in Mason City, Iowa. Mr. Tadlock, a lifetime ICDA member, and the seventh and eighth grade Bass Clef Honor Choir will be joined by Sarah Bouska conducting the seventh and eighth grade Treble Clef Honor Choir; Luke Johnson conducting the ninth through twelfth grade High School Honor Choir; and this year’s special guest, The Radio Choir from American Public Media, conducted by Tesfa Wondamagegnehu of Minneapolis, MN.
