Eleven area student-built sculptures are getting ready for display at the fourth annual Village in Bloom arts festival in the Village of East Davenport. Jackson Elementary created a five foot sculpture titled, “Wacky Bird.” Central High students created “Prosperity,” which was developed over the past year around this year’s Flight of Fancy theme. Rebar, lids, siding, and laminated cardboard were used to meet the requirement to create the sculpture from 80% recycled materials. The sculpture is eight feet tall and comes apart in the middle for moving. Industrial Tech students are credited with making the structure and manufacturing it so it could come apart and still be sturdy. All of these student-built sculptures will be displayed at the Village in Bloom Festival on May 7th when they will be sold to the highest bidder.
