Lorraine Pereira, daughter of Dr. M. Martin and Mrs. Susan Pereira of Davenport, was selected as the 2016 Dooley Scholarship recipient. The Dooley Scholarship is awarded each year to a DCSD senior in the upper 10% of their class, who has shown a continued interest in the field of medicine, and plans to become a medical doctor. The scholarship is in the amount of $20,000 over a four year period. This year, eight students in the district were finalists in a rigorous application process. Lorraine has been accepted to attend the University of California-Berkeley and plans to major in Public Health. She has been active as a co-leader of Girls Learn International, serves as a Student School Board member, member of the Key Club, Environmental Club, National Honor Society, and has received 11 superior ratings at FMTA piano competitions 2005-2016.
