Wood Students Win in History and Geography Contests

Three Wood Intermediate students were recognized for their outstanding work in recent competitions. Jack West, eighth grader, is a finalist for the National Geographic State Geography Bee on April 1st in Cedar Rapids. Meredith Sloat, seventh grade, advances to the State National History Day competition in Des Moines this spring for her performance, “Exchanging Home for a Homestead in Space: Skylab’s Exploration & First Encounters.” Also in the National History Day competition, Rachel Sallis, also seventh grade, earned the best project in fine arts special award from the Figge for her piece, “The ‘Mulatto’ Girl in the Painting.”
