Garfield Elementary Counselor Selected as State Representative for National Recognition

Candy Reed, Garfield Elementary School counselor, has been selected as the Iowa State representative for the 2016 School Counselor of the Year program by the American School Counselor Association. The School Counselor of the Year program honors these professionals who serve as advocates for students, helping them achieve success in school and in life. Ms. Reed has been recognized in the past as 2014 Iowa School Counselor of the Year, receiving national recognition from the American School Counselor Association (ASCA)  in 2010, the RAMP award (Recognized ASCA Model Program) in 2010, and a re-RAMP status in 2013. She will travel to Washington, D.C., in January 2016 to be honored in a ceremony at the White House and be formally recognized at a black-tie gala at historic Union Station.
