On May 12, 2015, Wood Intermediate’s TAG Creative Writing Students gathered with their families and friends to present Wood’s first ever Literacy-Out-Loud (LOL) Night. Students have been taking a creative writing class all year long, and as a culmination of their work, designed their own classes, which they taught in three sessions. Students designed the concepts, material, and taught their “students.” The last half of the night consisted of a Poetry Slam and Written Word sharing where many different poetry and writing pieces were read to the crowd. One grandparent commented, “You have some amazingly talented kids here. Wood is full of some amazing young people!” Way to go students!
