Junior Brennan Bladel continued his successful swim season by qualifying for state in two events at the District Swim Meet. Bladel qualified in the 100 Butterfly and the 100 Backstroke. He was crowned the district champion in the 100 Butterfly, and broke the school record. Brennan represented the Wildcats this past saturday in Marshalltown, at the State Swim Meet. He placed 6th in the 100 Butterfly and 9th in the 100 Backstoke. Congratulations Brennan!!!
Congratulations to the boys swim team at the District swim meet for the fantastic swims in Clinton. The team had a 100% time drops for the meet and we had 3 swims that just missed getting into State and 3 that did get into State. The 200 yard Medley Relay consisting of Luke Eure, Andrew Shie, Joseph Shie, and Jack Reemtsma broke last year’s school record by almost 1 second and went 1:40.78 and is ranked 14th. Luke Eure is ranked 5th in the 200 Individual Medley and 4th in the 100 Back. Congratulations to the other swimmers who went to the District meet, Nate Anderson, Zach Taylor, Charley Cummins, and Michael Smith.
On February 6th the West High Jazz Band performed at the W. Locust Hy-Vee to kick off Valentine’s Day and to help raise money for the new marching band uniforms that West plans to purchase for the fall of 2015. Thank you to everyone who came out to say hello and support our students. The Jazz band will compete in 2 more competitions this year and perform for 8 different public performances.
Congratulations to Centrals Show Choirs for an AMAZING competition at Mt. Pleasant this weekend. Blue Vibrations placed 1st Runner-up in the prep division with PIT NATION placing third overall for all of the schools back-up bands. Central Singers placed 1st place in Class 4A and was named GRAND CHAMPION in the finals competition! They also brought home the caption awards for BEST VOCALS and BEST CHOREOGRAPHY. This is Central Singer’s fourth Best Choreography award in their last 7 competitions! Special Congratulations to TeNesha Hawkins who was named Best Female Soloist for the second week in a row!
Several members of Sudlow’s vocal music were named to the Southeast Iowa Choral Driectors Association Honor Choir. These participants take part in the choral program and have shown outstanding singing abilities and rehearsal attendance. This honor choir took place in Tipton, Iowa and were selected by their directors. The selection process involves schools within the South East Iowa Choral district being allowed submit up to eight students for each choir. The concert consisted of 5/6th grade and 7/8th grade choirs. There were about 130 students in each choir. Congratulations to our 6th Grade SEICDA members: Abby McCleland, Chloe Logsdon, Michele Antonucci, Alenna Darland, Sophia Davis, Ella Davis, Isabella Guy, and Anna Thompson.Sixth grader Abby McCleland was selected and was happy to have participated in this choir.“I am pretty proud of myself for what I accomplished,” She said.
The Sudlow band had amazing results in Fairfield, Iowa for the Southeast Iowa Bandmasters Association (SEIBA) Honor Band Auditions. These students have auditioned and prepared for this honor band for months. We are very proud of all the students who tried out!

Sam Bral, senior at North High School, participated in the recent Brain Bee competition held at the University of Iowa. The competition tests the neuroscience knowledge of high school students from around the state, and Sam finished in the top ten of the contest. Congratulations, Sam!
