Sixth grade students in the Integrated Arts classes at the Creative Arts Academy (CAA) are completing a unit based on the theme “Our World” as they close out their first semester of the 2014-2015 school year. Students in three different sections of Integrated Arts have been exploring this theme in accordance with their own arts focus at the school. Students in one section of the class have researched immigration to the United States and learned about the lives of immigrants from Ireland, Russia, and Cuba, along with learning about the Statue of Liberty, particularly the words carved into the base of the statue. With this knowledge, students have created and are performing three short skits that pay homage to the experience of immigrants and the importance of the diversity of our country. Another class, using the same theme, has studied symbolism in the world around them. The third section of the class is taking a more literal approach to the theme by taking photographs that tell a story about the world around them from different points of view. Please take a moment to learn more about the current work in the Integrated Arts classes at CAA Integrative Arts Classes.
