Central High seniors Gabe Lance, Pablo Haake, and Luke Eure have all been named as National Merit Scholar Semifinalists. These three scholars join an elite group of 16,000 students across the country. The 2013 PSAT/NMSQT was the initial screening device of 1.4 million entrants to this year’s program. From this pool of entrants, only 16,000 semifinalists are recognized as having the highest scores in the United States (this number represents fewer than one percent of each state’s high school senior body). In order to continue in the program, each of Central’s semifinalists will need to complete the application process which includes the submission of academic records, letters of recommendation from Central staff, a student essay, submission of extracurricular activities, and report their SAT scores. Congratulations to these young men and good luck to them as they complete the next stage of the program!
