Fathers and other male role models joined their preschool students for the annual “Million Father Breakfast” at the four Children’s Village sites on Tuesday, September 16, 2014. Everyone enjoyed a breakfast that included eggs, fresh fruit, muffin tops, pastries, and more before starting their preschool and work days. The annual breakfast is an offshoot of the “Million Father March,” an event that recognizes the power of men’s involvement in their child’s educational success. When fathers and male role models are regularly involved in a child’s education and social development, that child tends to score higher on standardized tests, have better attendance in school, and is more likely to graduate from high school. The event celebrates and supports strong family structures and the positive impact that family involvement has on a child’s educational success.
