Congratulations to the girls track & field team for their excellent performances at the State meet. Athletes included 15 girls who competed in 11 events, recording 5 lifetime-bests and 10 season-bests. A few highlights include Tadaisha Thornton placing 7th in the 100 hurdles, Tanasha Atwater placing 11th in the shot put, Bella Solis landing 10th in the 400 hurdles, and the 800 medley relay team of Deena Gibbs, Dajanique Jackson, Raegan Menke, and Tadaisha Thornton finishing 12th.
The boys track team also had a great showing at State. A few highlights include Jayvon Matthews placing 2nd in the 110m high hurdles and 8th in the 400m hurdles, Mason Tope finishing 15th and Matt Smith finishing 24th in the 3200m run, and the 4×200 team of Cameron Pugh, Tyson Morrison, Justin Ramsey and Sam Guyton finishing in 10th place.
The Special Olympics Track Team also competed at their state competition last weekend in Ames. The nine team members brought home eleven gold medals, one silver, one bronze, and three 4th place ribbons. Team members include Athen Carrington, Hunter Songalia, Baylee Norris, Tony McDonnell, Antonio Salazar, DJ Cooke, Karl Lantzky, Shy’A Hughes, Jacob Heald, and Hannah Olson.
