Kimberly Center Students Attend Women in Science and Engineering Conference

On October 17, Kimberly Center High School students Columbia Scott, Payton Engels, Krista McCulley, Jessica Brady, Falyn Martin, and Alathea Wilkins, along with teachers Elizabeth Mastalio and Lynn Meyers, attended the Program for Women in Science and Engineering (PWSE) Conference at Iowa State University.  These students are all interested in pursuing a career in the fields of science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) after high school graduation. The young women interacted with professionals currently working in STEM fields, participated in hands-on experiential activities, and received information on the opportunities in STEM careers. Some of the 20 breakout sessions were “Is the Earth Really Warming?,” “Thunderstorms, Tornadoes, and More,” “Engineering Materials for the Artificial Pancreas,” and “Nuclear Engineering and Atomic Candy.”
