Grand Opening of the DuTrac Falcon Branch

West High School recently held a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for its brand new DuTrac Falcon Branch. Over 250 people from Des Moines, Davenport, Dubuque, Cedar Rapids, and other surrounding communities attended the event. Local partners of the Business Academy, including Scott Community College and Junior Achievement of the Heartland, witnessed the collaboration.

Davenport Mayor Bill Gluba started the festivities with an acknowledgement of Davenport Community Schools and the importance the district places on student financial literacy. Jason Gilliland from the Downtown Davenport Partnership stressed the importance of having student involvement in a new business located in Davenport. JoAnn Johnson, Superintendent of the Iowa Division of Credit Unions, was pleased to deliver the first and only high in-school credit union license in the state of Iowa. Andrew Hawkinson, CEO of DuTrac Community Credit Union, was enthused to hand over the keys to the branch to Lois Scott.  Mr. Hawkinson wished students Libby Burken, Kyle Verdon, Morgan Ripperger, and Gale Schultz good luck with their endeavors of financial literacy through their involvement with the DuTrac Falcon Branch. Dr. Tate, Superintendent of the Davenport Schools, emphasized the importance of Ms. Tangen’s and Mr. Verdon’s involvement in bringing DuTrac Credit Union and Davenport Community School District together to build a better community.
