Miss Iowa, Miriah Cary, visited with 45 from Wood and J.B. Young Intermediate school students and their mentors from the 100 Black Men Quad Cities Stanley Moore Mentoring program to celebrate student achievement on February 15, 2013. Since the beginning of the school year approximately 95% of the students in the mentoring program have maintained a grade point average between 3.0 and 4.0. The mentoring program has partnered with Davenport Community Schools for the past 15 years and focuses on supporting, guiding, and preparing students for their future.  A special thanks to Eugene Chism at Wood Intermediate, along with Gary May-field and Danniell Johnson at J.B. Young for their work with students.
